Saving Money & The Planet With Trainers That Cost a Lot Less

2 Mins read

Simon Payne is selling trainers from big brands like Nike, Adidas and New Balance at a fraction of the cost. He has given more than 60,000 pairs of trainers a second chance by saving them from landfill or incineration.

The UK’s best kept eBay secret that your feet will thank you for

Shopping sustainably shouldn’t have to cost the earth and now trainer fans can get their brand fix, whilst helping to protect the planet.

Sole Responsibility, the brainchild of Simon Payne, is a circular economy business which sells high quality seconds and ex- display footwear from his Ebay shop.

The business sources trainers, which would have been sent to landfill or incinerated, from leading high street retailers and sells them to people who are looking to improve their environmental footprint, or bag the latest pair of trainers at a cut price.

Simon’s site regularly offers more than 2000 pairs of trainers at any one time. Buyers can expect honest descriptions. They will be identified as needing a re-dye, or that they have an eyelet missing for instance. Stock is refreshed daily with clear descriptions on any defects or marks.

Sixty thousand pairs of trainers have escaped landfill or incineration since the business launched, Simon is on a mission to educate UK consumers that buying seconds is a crucial piece in the jigsaw of living a more sustainable life – in a similar way to buying vintage and second-hand fashion.

He says: “There is a huge lack of awareness about the unknown volumes of waste that goes on in the fashion industry – with subprime, returned and seconds stock deemed unsaleable, it is often incinerated or disposed of because of very minor flaws of damage.

“We strongly believe that seconds should be given a second chance and shoes and clothing with very minor faults should be something that everyone considers next time they need new trainers or clothes.”

“We know seconds are not for everyone, but with many products having only very minor flaws, it is a viable option and long term will make a huge impact on the environment.

“By working closely with some of the UK’s leading high street retailers we are able to offer authentic and high quality trainer brands at much less than you would pay for a new pair of trainers. We have a wide range of adult and children’s sizes and our stock is updated and refreshed all of the time – so it is worth keeping an eye out if you have a pair of trainers in mind.

“We strongly believe that seconds should be given a second chance and shoes and clothing with very minor faults should be something that everyone considers next time they need new trainers or clothes.”
